For PP spunbond orders, every 5 gsm step above 40 gsm typically adds more material cost per roll than widening the roll by 400 mm. Buyers who fix a target grammage and let width flex usually reduce unit cost without changing tensile performance for hygiene and packaging uses.
SMS and SMMS combine spunbond strength with melt-blown filtration. A 45 gsm SMMS can reach barrier performance that a single-layer spunbond would need 90 gsm or more to approach, which lowers finished-product weight for coveralls and surgical gowns.
Intrinsic viscosity between 0.72 and 0.80 dl/g with PVC contamination below 50 ppm is the practical threshold for stable fiber and sheet extrusion. Below that range, buyers should expect more filament breaks and higher scrap rates rather than a lower price advantage.
Nonwoven rolls, printed packaging and PET raw materials shipped in one container from one supplier reduce duplicate inland haulage, duplicate customs entries and split-shipment risk. For mixed-SKU buyers this is often a larger saving than a single-line discount.
